ThriveSupport Groups
Thrive support groups started in 2018 as a way to meet the needs of the foster and adoption community in Charlottesville and surrounding counties.
Since that time, we have expanded to include support groups for families parenting children with disabilities.
Find your community
Adoption & Foster Care
Our goal is to offer a safe, nurturing environment for both parents and children, in which they can come as they are, engage in community, and find a place of rest for a short period of time.
We welcome a broad range of families including domestic adoption, international adoption, and foster care. We offer skilled childcare for ages 0-12 and a home-cooked meal for adults and children. The structure alternates between connection with other families and clinician-led discussion around relevant topics. We meet 2x/month on Sundays in Charlottesville, VA.
Due to the cost of groceries and skilled staff for childcare, there is a registration fee of $10/adult and $30-40 for childcare. We accept CSA Funding, private pay and offer financial assistance so cost isn’t a barrier!
Children with Disabilities
We strive to offer a community in which families feel safe to share the highs and lows of what this journey means. More than anything, we want you to know that you are not alone.
All parents are welcome regardless of the diagnosis, severity, or need of their child. We have two options, pending on what works best for your family:
Virtual: 2x/month on Wednesday evenings
In-Person: 2x/month Friday mornings in Charlottesville, VA. This group also includes skilled child-care.
